This month’s Pet Series is all about: Dog Training.

Talks take place in the tasting room. Total time is approximately one hour; each presentation is 10-15 minutes, concluded by a question and answer session.

A percentage of proceeds from the event’s sales will benefit Goochland Pet Lovers, a non-profit helping animals-in-need in our community.

K9 Tutor: Joyce Sobey
Everyone would like to have a well-behaved dog they can take anywhere with them. And though dogs may not have changed, what we know about them and how they learn has progressed dramatically over the years. Relying on old, outdated training methods would be limiting. As a result, Joyce has been across the country to schools, workshops and conferences. She has had the good fortune to work with and learn from some of the top dog trainers in the industry, and is able to teach dogs behaviors that allow them the freedom to be a part of our lives.

Goochland County K9 Handler: Sergeant Greg Bock
As a team, Sergeant Bock and his canine partner’s training consist of multiple scenarios ranging from foot pursuit, building searches, building extractions, vehicle extractions, drug detection, and tactical support to the Goochland County Sheriff’s Office Rescue Team. His current partner is “Chase”, a Belgian Malinois. Join us to meet both and learn more!

Orapax: Neal Kauder
Neal will chat with us about bird dogs and what they need to perform.

Tasting room hours: 1pm-5pm; bring your friends and family and enjoy your day at the cidery.

The “PET MATTERS” Series is held at 2pm on the fourth Sunday of each month, through September.
